I engaged the starter and it ran without problems until about the 10th start. Transmission broken into 3 pieces. I removed the old gear from my old starter and put it on the new starter as the problem I had with the old starter wasn't the gear. The gear on the starter is steel with a plastic insert. The OEM gearbox is all metal, no plastic. I would change gears even before I installed the new starter. The rest works fine.
