I've been changing brakes for almost 30 years. I've always used a C-clamp and block of wood to compress the piston(s) when replacing disc brakes. A few months ago I was replacing the disc brakes on my son's 2000 Mustang and found that I needed a disc brake installation tool to make the rear brakes. Luckily I was able to rent an OEM kit from my local auto parts store to do the job. I'm not used to renting, especially when I can buy a cheap tool kit. Revan enters. I purchased the OEM 27111 disc brake tool kit in June 2011. Well today (31st July 2011) I replaced the disc brakes on my 2001 Ford Explorer and finally had the opportunity to use this kit. I am impressed. After I've finished, I can only say that I would like to buy a set like this sooner. The pressure plate is shaped to fit the caliper and the round piston plate fits the piston perfectly, making it easy to compress. No more fussing and trying to find the best place to attach the C-clamp and the piece of wood to squeeze the piston. I will never use a block of wood and a c-clip again. This is an essential tool kit for anyone making their own brakes. This is a quality set at an affordable price. I really like it and wish I had bought a set like this sooner.
