Review on Pop Lock PL8160 Tailgate Colorado by Richard Dean

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Product ok, customer service virtually non-existent

The kit itself is ok but the documentation is poor and there is no Pop & Lock customer service. existing. The 2012 Canyon instructions include approximately 20 steps. The first 17 (or so) are easy to follow as they involve installing the drivetrain and running cables into the engine bay. Next you need to go through the firewall and then find some wires to connect. The colors are predetermined, but that's all. I emailed tech support and when they didn't respond within six days I sent another email. Eventually I asked the service department why tech support wasn't responding and eventually got an answer. Unfortunately, the answer did not address my questions and I asked for more information. I still haven't received a reply and it's been over two weeks now. I ended up getting my mechanic to do the last 2 steps - they alone took 2 hours - a far cry from the hour they claim.

Pros
  • Replacement tailgates can cost over a thousand dollars due to today's factory installed electronics
Cons
  • Security
