Review on 🏎️ B&M 70295 High-Performance Aluminum Transmission Pan by Dave Connelly

Revainrating 4 out of 5

In my opinion the best version of the pan

I fitted this to my 97 k2500 6.5 diesel with 4l80e. I chose a B&M pan because it had an alum extension tube for the filter in addition to a clip to keep the filter from flying out. I think the original pan is 3 liters and this one is 6 liters. At the same time, I decided to install a temperature sensor. I would have tapped the pan for the temperature sensor. I run about 160F just walking in 30 minutes. Unfortunately I don't know how the truck worked before the larger pallet was installed. The pallet is easy to install. I had to remove the transmission cross member bracket from both the transmission end shaft and the truck frame. This allowed me to move the cross member back about 0.5" for good access to the rear pan screws. This was never required for a factory pan, but because of the pan depth and the larger base size for the need for new screws I went with it. Instead of the usual hex bolts and washers, I would have preferred the factory-fitted collar head bolts. The factory bolts have a 10mm hex head, this is a standard 13mm hex head. The 10mm jack is easier to get into tight spaces. There is a bracket on the right rear side of the pan which I ended up just screwing on with a factory screw to speed up the installation. I'll probably remove the offending rubber-to-metal mount in the future to avoid having to move the gearbox back to change the fluid. This is enough to connect the outlet.

Pros

Cons
  • Crumpled
