Review on Enhanced Dimensional Accuracy of RANKI Filament Printer by Dave Brummet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This material is amazing - carbon fiber PLA = WINNER.

If I was stuck on a desert island with just my printer and a spool of filament, I would choose carbon fiber PLA. RANKI carbon fiber PLA is amazing. I had to experiment with temperature settings for both the platform and the extruder before finding the optimal settings that resulted in consistently high-quality prints. But once you get those settings right, the quality is a huge improvement over standard PLA. WHY IT'S SO AWESOME:* EASY to print - default layer, speed and resolution settings = insanely beautiful prints.* Excellent layer adhesion.* Finished product requires no post-processing.* Matte black is sexy.* STRONG and durable, more so than regular PLA .* Ideal for containers and more.* Less dependent on rafts and edges due to excellent layer adhesion.* Versatile.* Durable.* Precise GREAT FOR PROJECTS WITH TIGHT TOLERANCES. RECOMMENDED PRINTING TEMPERATURE AND SPEED:* Layer temperature: 30-50°C* Extruder: 205-220°C* Speed: 50 mm/s. Speed: 60mm/s WARNING: This material appears to be more sensitive to temperature and layer orientation than regular PLA and also requires higher temperatures. Getting rid of less hot filament that can come out of the extruder before it's fully preheated. Otherwise, dried filaments will end up sticking to the extruder and being dragged along during printing, causing a mess on your print. I had some issues with both ply and ply adhesion until I increased the temperature to 220°C / 60°C extruder and ply temp respectively. After using these temperatures, the prints are excellent in every respect. RESULT: The end product is well worth the time to set up the right settings for your printer and is easily worth the extra money over regular PLA, especially if you're printing things that require strength and tight tolerances.
