Great press for many uses. I was hoping that a 7" press would work with my 8" cast iron skillet, but the press is too big to lay flat on an 8" skillet. Rust is expected as this is an IRON press! Hand wash and then apply. It has a very light coating of workable oil with a high smoke point and it will be free of rust. If it does rust, DO NOT PANIC! A little rust (iron) is good in your diet and WILL NOT KILL you. If it rusts, simply use a small amount of high smoke point workable oil on the rust, wipe it off and re-season the press.
