I'm writing this mainly to let other Linux users who use Nvidia GPUs know about my experience with UltraGear, not "hey look at me, I'm a Linux user". I'm using the KDE Neon distro, RTX 2060 Super, version 470 drivers. Gsync works for me out of the box. You must disable Compositor to enable Gsync. I haven't tested Freesync but I assume it will work as it depends on the monitor. I was scared when I first turned on the monitor as I had read other reviews on here. about dead pixels, which happens on all monitors and unfortunately I found 3 spots with 4 or 5 dead pixels when I turned it on. Luckily I fixed them quickly and they have stayed ever since. If you find dead pixels on your monitor, there is a trick you can use by gently massaging the dead pixel area with your fingertip or thumb in a circular motion. However, you must have your monitor turned on, and the easiest way to see dead pixels is to expand a very bright white image to full screen. Backlight bleeding is a nasty disadvantage of IPS screens and my screen has it, but it's very small and only in the corners, and the amount of bleeding is very large at each corner, which was nice. I read several reviews where people expressed dislike for the vignetting effect at the top of the screen. Personally, I noticed absolutely no vignetting on my screen. The stand is very thin but takes up a lot of space, and if your desk is narrow or flat, you may need to free up space or find it too close to your desk. face to be comfortable. My 20 inch deep desk just doesn't have enough room for comfortable viewing. If your desk also has a built-in shelf above the monitor, you'll need to measure the space so you're not surprised if it doesn't. The included DisplayPort cable is good enough for 3440 x 1440 @ 160Hz resolution. My kit did not include a USB Type A to Type B cable to use the USB pass-through ports on the monitor. As one of the styrofoam holes was broken and the USB cable may have been taken. The brightness is considerable, I've never seen another monitor so bright before. But this is coming from someone who has used 2 ASUS PB278Q in the last 10 years. Because my screen has very little backlighting, blacks are very dark even for IPS. Menu navigation is very easy and responsive. 8 different modes. The fake HDR mode is a trick, but it has a very high contrast setting. Gamer 1 is the setting I always use. There is a quick select outside the menu to change modes.
