Didn't have enough time to get to the outlet then plug in the USB to the PC and the device can be used to the top of the table. Imagine a 4 foot power cord, a USB box, and then a 3 foot USB cable to connect to the computer. to USB is too short to make it through a pre-punched hole in the desk from the bottom to the top of my desk. I bought a 6ft USB extension cable that allowed me to plug the power into the wall on the 'other' side of the desk and used the extension to plug it into the PC, bringing the USB box up my desk. For this length to work well, your computer needs to be about two feet from the outlet, and then ALL your USB cables need to be about six feet long to run from the hub to the top of your desk. Make sure you plug it into "SS USB" on your computer for the required speed, as we've connected our keyboard, mouse, zoom camera and speakers. Works great except for the short cable.
