My 6 year old daughters LOVE the similar embroidery kits from ALEX Crafts so I looked for other kits with a different design as ALEX's choices were limited. I love the designs in the Colorbok sets - they are absolutely adorable and way cuter than the ALEX sets - but the quality isn't nearly as good! any color, which means that you need to cut the strands to the desired length. Nothing fancy but certainly decreases the ability of 6 year olds to complete the project on their own (since they wanted to do it themselves but really had no idea how long the strands should be and ended up cutting them). many of them are too short). However, this is more of an inconvenience than an actual deficiency. The DEFECT is that all the paint on the grid is peeling off! It's actually a kind of vinyl pad that comes off in big chunks. A pattern is included so the experienced embroiderer will have no trouble counting stitches and recreating the design, but the whole point of this kit is that it 'teaches to sew' for young children, and my children at least have trouble understanding how to follow the pattern. Which you shouldn't do in the first place, since it should be printed in color! Oh, and did I mention there are little bits of vinyl paint strewn all over my house, in my daughters clothes, in her hair, etc. It's a mess. Really disappointed.
