Review on Hyde 09170 Drywall Vacuum Sander by Antonio Moore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You need the right tool and the right expectations for the job.

I sand drywall with this product and it's perfect for the job. If you're sanding a little harder or rougher, I would at least go for a coarser sanding grid than the medium grit that comes with the kit. It may be wiser to consider the higher-end professional version (09180). Complaints about the suction being too strong to push the sanding block against the wall are related to the power of the particular vacuum cleaner. The device has adjustable rings to control suction flow, but the differences are minor. Complaints about flexibility of the head leading to tipping over are associated with the wrong lever. If you stand at the right distance and hold the stick properly, circular grinding becomes an easy task. Standing too close to a wall or ceiling makes the job much more difficult, so you may need a stepladder to find the right lever. The product was used with the wrong spacing/grit. This product is mostly plastic and the last thing I checked, plastic is not indestructible. The product does a good job of removing sanding dust, but the mesh can easily become overloaded, reducing its ability to pick up dust. This is especially true in areas farther from the point of suction. Be sure to check the screen for debris if you notice dust falling off or sticking to the wall. If you approach this with the right expectations, I think you will be satisfied with the product. I am definitely happy with this product and would buy it again or go pro.
