Review on πŸ”³ Rust-Oleum 342668 Automotive Truck Bed Coating in Black - Quart Size (32 Fl Oz) by Todd Calloway

Dries like hard plastic and is easy to use

I used this on the plywood floor of my 16ft boat. Carpet retains water and will rot your boat floor if it is wood. For strong adhesion and good thickness I used a brush for the first coat and then a roller for two coats. The plywood was varnished at the factory and the paint started to peel off in a few places. This allowed me to put several layers on the floor. It looks great and gives the bottom a hard plastic cover. Very attractive. Looks like factory paint. I've tried scraping dried paint off a mixing stick with a nail and the thing is very hard. I'm pretty sure it waterproofed the bottom of my boat and I doubt it will ever wear out. It will not stick to unpainted surfaces, which is why Rustoleum says "previously painted surfaces". I poured something into a stainless steel bowl. After a few days I was able to grab the edge and just pull out. It really stuck to unpainted wood.

Pros
  • Create a custom truck bed mat out of painted or bare metal with a non-slip textured surface
Cons
  • Very expensive
