Review on Discontinued Canon EOS 50D DSLR Camera Body for Sale by Jasmit Singh ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A little bit not what I expected, generally fine.

The main disadvantage of the camera is that they are trying to sell you not only the camera, but also at least a couple of new lenses. And this problem is solved by marketing, due to the promise of "absolutely different image quality." In fact, the new rf50mm 1.2 lens, in addition to the sharpness of the object itself in focus, is completely inferior to the EF50 mm 1.2 and EF50mm 1.4 lenses in terms of the beauty of the picture, its plasticity and blur quality. Even on the forum created to support this camera, they had to admit it, though in the manner of "well, nothing, but sharp." Yes, it is sharp, but if you shoot a portrait on the street, then you can simply cut out the person in the photo with scissors, because there is no other information in the frame, everything is blurred into dust. The next lens is RF28-70, aperture 2. It seems like the fastest zoom, but why? If you shoot landscapes, then 28mm is not enough, you want at least 24, and preferably 18-21. And for portraits, 70 is a little wide. And it turns out that any fixed lens from the EF series of the L line does this zoom in terms of image quality and, at the same time, costs three times cheaper. The next regular lens is 35mm, sort of like macro. And who needs a 35mm macro? It is cheap and this is its plus, nothing more. About zoom 24-105, aperture 4 - you can not talk at all. Aperture 4, this is a limitation in almost everything. Therefore, if you are looking at this camera, then it seems to me that it can be considered for purchase along with an adapter and the use of EF lenses. By developing them, canon still corresponded to the market and even tried to catch up with the leaders in some ways. But there is one moment. For many who tried to autofocus with face detection, in the end, the face was just out of focus. An attempt to clarify this issue on the forum leads to the blocking of such people, including me, with the words of approximate content "and why it does not focus on one point, why is autofocus on the face needed at all . and in general it's time to drive such people from the forum . "So the truth about this cell cannot be found there, everything is being cleaned up, unfortunately.

Pros
  • The camera is made according to all the laws of a modern gadget. It's nice to hold it in your hands. But, no more. The price is lower than conditional competitors.
Cons
  • 1. Lower dynamic range than major competitors. 2. No matrix stabilization. 3. Image detailing is lower due to the smoothing filter, and therefore, the thesis that "no one takes landscapes on canon" is still relevant. 4. The closed system for installing manual lenses. There are adapters, but as usual, everything is buggy. 5. One card slot, and this immediately sweeps aside any possibility of using the camera for serious work, even as a spare. 6. Marketing games with lenses. More on this in the comment.
