How to attach the foot pedal

This stand is solid and fairly easy to assemble - obviously the instructions have been greatly improved although the photos could be a bit clearer as others have pointed out. notes that mounting the reel can be a problem. I received mine with the pedal mounted over the pulley as shown in the product photo. In this position, the pedal offers a significant mechanical advantage. However, if the caster assembly is installed outside of the base, there is a tripping hazard; When installed in the base, the shelf makes it impossible to control the foot. The mechanical advantages are enough to control it by hand, but at my age it's getting harder to bend over. Others complained that they received the reel assembly "wrong". That got me thinking. I disassembled the assembly by removing the main pivot pin (sorry it's hard to see in my photos). There is an electronic clip on each end of this pen. If you don't have a special tool, you can just pry it off with a screwdriver. Pull out the pin, and then pull the pedal out of the bracket. There is a washer on each side between the pedal and the inside of the bracket - mine had the sides of the bracket tilted slightly, so the pedal and washers popped out with a little pressure. Rotate the pedal in the bracket so it extends past the mounting side (see photo) and reassemble (I used needle nose pliers to reinstall the electronic clamp). Now that the reel unit is in place, the pedal barely protrudes over the edge of the stand and can be controlled with your foot. In this configuration the pedal has far less mechanical advantage, but if you weigh more than you put on the stand you should be fine. One star for DeWalt with no wheel assembly (re)configuration information. in each of their materials.
