When the engine light came on on my 2003 Toyota Corolla I had it checked by a mechanic who told me the rubber seal on my gas cap was the culprit . I decided to take a closer look to see if there are cheaper alternatives to the original parts. In my case, a "real" Toyota gas cap would cost me about $15, which I thought was a bit much. After looking at various compatible, inexpensive brands, I decided to give the Stant a try. A few quick notes and YMMV (no pun intended!) but I found the cap to be slightly smaller and a bit more difficult to get on and off my car than the original part. Second, the engine light issue was not immediately resolved. It took a subsequent full tank fill and an extra ride before it worked.
