As many have said they come in handy when you need to add a few holes to the belt and that's why I bought them. They get the job done and are sharp enough to get the job done without hurting your skin. I'm not going to say they're very high quality or that they work commercially, but for the average person who uses them a few times a year for different projects, they should work very well. a regular awl for adding new holes in the leather, but it's far from perfect as it doesn't remove anything. it only punches a small hole. I've also tried drilling a small hole, but that can tear the skin and leave a hole of imperfect size or shape. This is the way. The right tool for the right job.
