I read all seven reviews before choosing the exo terra compact little light for my 30 gallon hexagonal planter. I wanted to deliver as much light as possible at 2 watts/gallon. The original light from the aquarium pack only had an 8W fluorescent tube, I never used it. The Exo compact has two incandescent bulbs and I use two Wal-Mart 10-watt fluorescent bulbs. My plants worked great with my old little 5 gallon hood with a 10 watt fluorescent light. Now they work even better and now my tank glows beautifully. FYI, do not expose the light to open water, it corrodes easily.
