I like the idea of a scanner that can help me understand the wines I drink. The idea is good, but the implementation sucks. The first big problem is the app itself. They try to make it feel like a virtual Somme. The problem is that the interface is so clunky that it only works about 2/3 of the time, if at all. The next problem is that the existing wine database is 99% French. This means if you are a US wine consumer, it will almost never find your wine in the database. It also means that if you want to find something comparable, only French wines will be found. The next problem is that I don't see how you can generalize and show me the tasting profile of multiple wines. Another issue is that there are no help facilities and there are certain tasting terms that I wish I had a better definition of in the app, but good luck finding them. Besides, it's a great thing. Spring.
