When I bought my used car, the gas cap strap was almost, but not quite, broken. I confess that I didn't check this part when I bought it, I found it the first time I filled up and it broke the second or third time. The gas cap worked, but I had to find a place to attach it because it couldn't just hang like that. This isn't very practical in winter as you don't want snow/mud or water getting into your tank because it got on the gas cap. I've shopped at parts stores, auto junkyards, and online trying to find one that costs under $25. I finally made it! Hooray! It works, the nasty fuel light didn't come on (on the last one I tried). It wasn't difficult to insert a small "button" into the hole to get it hanging properly. I'm happily dancing at the gas station, well, easy dope with the price of gas, but I'm still lucky to have a tank that hangs like it should!
