I took a welding class in high school and have done a lot in the 30 years since, but I have never practiced or certified professionally. I would say that I am a very good amateur welder. I bought this mask because my various adjustable auto-darkening masks always give me trouble seeing the work. Either the hue is wrong (even adjustable) or it's such a wrong color that I just can't always tell which is which. I should point out that I'm basically color blind. My kids have asked why I need a full color mask when I can't see colors anyway (little punks!) but it makes a world of difference! I could see my work clearly and the auto on/off feature works well. In direct sunlight it sometimes forgets to click back to clear it, but not as much as my other helmets. And the huge view is amazing! I've only been using this for a few days - will update again if anything changes.
