Reads and writes single-layer discs perfectly. However, there was a problem with the 8x double-sided DVD. The burner will try to burn it at 16x, which won't work on an 8x disc, and it won't slow down to work with slower discs. I had to buy another burner limited to 8x so I could do duplex printing. The rest of the burner is quite satisfactory.
