📀 Enhanced SHM 165P6SX External DVD±R Burner Review

I bought this DVD burner about two months ago and it's a great product! I chose this DVD burner because of its price and I was not disappointed! I connect this burner to my laptop very easily and it backs up a single layer DVD in 7 minutes (8x speed) and a dual layer DVD in 14 minutes. I have almost no bad burns and the quality of the burns is excellent! I could have bought a more expensive burner but the difference in burn time wasn't worth the price. The burner is highly recommended!

No problems with this burner. You have not used any of the supplied software. I use Nero Ultra 6. It comes with a stand to hold the device upright but I prefer it laid flat.

This player/recorder is a reliable device. It's easy to set up and works great with a clean install of Windows 2000 SP4, where it's my primary DVD player and burner. The copy of Nero that came with the hardware isn't as reliable; It seems to close automatically, usually about 30 seconds after opening it in menu mode, for no apparent reason, unless I'm performing a specific task. Very strange. I think Nero REALLY wants me to upgrade to the paid version.

Reads and writes single-layer discs perfectly. However, there was a problem with the 8x double-sided DVD. The burner will try to burn it at 16x, which won't work on an 8x disc, and it won't slow down to work with slower discs. I had to buy another burner limited to 8x so I could do duplex printing. The rest of the burner is quite satisfactory.
