Unlike the 55, 75 and 110 tide filters which are great filters, this is far from the case. The reason is that sucking! There is no tube, just slits at the bottom, and the slits are not very narrow. Fish get in there because they are curious and looking for food etc. I lost a small angelfish as a result (a juvenile, just over 1 1/2 inches, had its head pinched, unfortunately it was dead when I removed it since it wasn't an easy task and that alone would have killed him) and two neons. I would recommend getting a 55 boost for just a few bucks more. Forget 35 even exist. The design is just terrible and dangerous for smaller fish (you can't put more in such a small aquarium). I have no idea what they were thinking.
