It works as advertised. However, there are a few downsides. The way this pen works is that when you press down on the top, a metal rod comes out of the "writing" end of the pen. When this happens, the oil stored in the reservoir falls out by gravity. All is well until you want to smear a spot where the end of the letter is higher than the end of the "clicker". Then the oil won't come out because gravity is working against you. Contrary to what you might think, this is not a syringe and no oil is squeezed out. As long as the end of the clicker is above the end where the oil comes out, everything is fine and working as advertised. I wasn't aware of this when I bought it, so I'm deducting a star. Otherwise it works as described and looks well made. The next problem with this type of device is that you have to drain a lot of oil. Then you have to press a lot and your hands get tired. It is best to use a syringe. This is by no means due to the device, but simply to the wrong tool. I deduct a star.
