I used reptile bark on my leopard gecko before purchasing it. I was always worried that he would swallow it and it would stick to his legs and be tracked everywhere. This rug is much better. It's easy to trim, I don't have to worry about it hurting my gecko, the gecko seems to love it, it's so easy to clean and looks beautiful. I ended up having enough to make two pieces to fit his tank so I don't have to rush when he needs cleaning. I just take out the dirty one, replace it with a clean one, then I can clean and air dry it when I have time.
