Doesn't work with accessories - why bother?

My work computer has Windows 7. When I ran out of ports I went with this one because it was specifically stated to be compatible. Package received, connected. Nothing worked, not even things that worked fine when plugged directly into my computer. I saw that the drivers are not needed (nice), the so-called support. They said that this device does not work with accessories such as headphones, keyboards and mice - only USB for data transfer. Why do you need to transfer data from 4 sources at the same time, I don't understand why they don't support accessories. SMX. To return.
