This device worked where the others didn't. The ball joints I wanted to remove were on a 1999 Miata. Because these are original parts, corrosion has held them back for almost 20 years. I bought an old ball joint tool here from Revain a few years ago but it wouldn't move the bolts and broke in the process. GearWrench was highly recommended by other reviewers, so I decided to give it a try. Within minutes of using this tool, the ball joint dislodged from the driver's side knuckle with a satisfying "pop”. On the passenger side, however, I had to hit the knuckle (where the ball joint bolt goes) with a hammer and heat the same area with a propane torch before this tool could loosen the bolt. So sometimes you need a combination of heat, rhythm and hope. As you can see in the attached photo, the GearWrench assemblies (Silver) are larger, apply more force with a larger, smaller pitch propeller, are farther from the pivot point, and have some height adjustment to accommodate different ball joint sizes. The old device (black) bent the pivot with all the force I had previously applied. I'm just glad it didn't break in half
