I'm an IT support professional with 20 years of experience and I can honestly say that the frustration I've experienced with this product compares to some of the worst is . My first Insteon Hub arrived defective. Didn't show up on the network, the IOS software couldn't find it, the network port on the device stayed enabled whether it was connected or not. I called support and was on hold for 2 hours before hanging up. Decided to just return the product (thanks, Revain). I bought a second one and hooked it up. The lamps looked promising. It showed up on my router. I opened all necessary ports. However, the software cannot connect. I didn't even go to their servers and kept trying to authenticate. I tried calling support again and was put on hold for an hour before a message came to leave a message and phone. Nobody called back. I'm sending this one back too. I was hoping to recommend it to my clients but I can't. If they don't improve customer service responsiveness and quality control of their product, they should remove that product from their product line. If they can't make a true plug and play device, then they shouldn't advertise it as such and provide the necessary technical support. I'm using an Insteon modem and Indigo software, so far it's working well.
