I have fitted these to two hollow section internal doors and two metal external doors and they work great. One spring per door. To reduce popping noises, I installed small felt gliders. I put them on the top pins because if they break I wanted to keep them out of the reach of kids and pets. I have a door jamb that is not flush so I had to bend the spring from 180 to 270 degrees to install it. picture below. The spring came loose after each try, and I eventually installed it, but snapped the spring with my fingers a few times. It would be advisable to wear leather work gloves when installing, especially if you are bending over 270 degrees for the installation. I have all new doors that already work properly. If this does not close your door, then the problem is not with the spring but with existing problems with your door. I want to buy more of these because I'm so happy, but I'm not sure where I would put them. If I ever need to lubricate I use a dry spray lube so they don't attract dirt and dust. because they are fully visible. There are no visible scratches or marks on the doors where the vinyl protector rubs against the doors when closed.
