Received this because I was told it would be good for my reptile group. I need it to monitor a 75 gallon 48"18"19 3/4" snake enclosure. This enclosure is closed at the top and coated on three sides to keep moisture out. There shouldn't be any reason to why this thermostat can't reach 87F. It's only between 76-80.5F. It will only decrease. I had another thermostat before and it worked without any problems. However, it was quite old and needed to be replaced. On top of that, it was easy to set up and easy to read in the room so that's a plus it just doesn't get on temperature.
