Robust design, weird problem

Once this hub is plugged in, two phantom drives appear in Disk Management and File Explorer, although nothing is associated with them, and an event warning 158 "Source Drive: Drive 4 has the same drive IDs such as one or more drives attached to the system." The following appears in Device Manager when plugged in: Disk Drives MassStorageClass Generic USB Device MassStorageClass Generic USB Device Universal Serial Bus Controllers Generic Super Speed USB Hub Generic Super Speed USB Hub Generic USB Hub Generic USB Hub and also as two drives, causing event errors as well as phantom drives in Explorer and Disk Manager. Although drives connected to the hub seem to work fine, I don't particularly mind that my Event Viewer is filled with these error messages and sees ghost drives. Thinking it might be a defective unit I got a replacement but the 2nd did the same. While it looks good and feels solid, I think there is a design issue. Return and get another brand. Oh, one more thing. This hub also didn't work with 4 of my 6 inch USB 3 extenders. The extenders work perfectly without a hub. Either my extensions aren't compatible with this hub, or the hub doesn't support the length.
