Disadvantages * No registration marks on the die head; makes stamping and sheet metal alignment less accurate than it should be; to me this is a major oversight; Since the main body of the hammer drill is cast steel, this may need to be machined after casting, but that's not a big deal as they already do other post-casting steps (e.g. tapping) * The depth of throat adjustment is a bit inaccurate; need a screwdriver to tighten enough - it would be better to have a thumbscrew or wing nut; Also when tightening it tends to tilt in the direction you tighten it - nothing prevents it from tilting and then you get more than 0.1" of variability when you push the piston against it (piston angle of attack ).determines how many variations you will see) *Grip material is not very durable; I managed to rip it on both grips the first time I used it (I remember checking the punch limits with 16- 304 SS gauge sheet metal) Having calipers on hand is not a major disadvantage Relatively modest price For softer steel (like 20 gauge galvanized sheet metal) this stamp works very well 4 out of 5 stars due to lack of registration marks on the stamp head and suboptimal Fillet Depth Adjustment Without these fiducial marks, it will be more difficult to line up the stamp exactly where you want it.
