This set is the best choice for pastel beginners. The price should NOT go up. See overview.
This set contains paints. It's great for learning how to blend and blend colors and I had a few blending tools (soft tools) in my kit. The DoesNot kit comes with paper. So plan to get a good pastel paper with a sanded finish (e.g. UArt). Another recommendation of mine is to buy a special "palette" that contains pan pastels for easier access. Having to unscrew all those pans gets annoying, so :( Final thoughts. While I like this set, I hope the price stays reasonable ($65). That amount has given me room for other things I need to to be succesfull.
