Review on ASUS VG279Q1R Gaming Monitor - 1080P, 144Hz Refresh Rate, Tilt Adjustment, Built-In Speakers, Blue Light Filter by Charles Waller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only drawback for me is that the brightness adjusts automatically.

I love this monitor! All I play is DayZ Standalone and Rotmg and I've transitioned from a 50" 720p TV to this one! After researching MANY monitors, I accidentally stumbled across this one! ASUS Tuf gaming monitor. The name itself made me want to learn more. AMD Freesync, dynamic visual gaming modes so you can find the right screen setting for every game, 1 ms response time, 165 Hz for a top speed of 165 fps. I ordered it and waited for it to arrive. It arrived about 3 days later. This took about 10-15 minutes. For unpacking and assembling, the stand that comes with it is very stable and well made, I hold on to it when I move the monitor. The screw that holds the leg in place can loosen itself and may have to be tightened again after a few movements, no problem for me. Looks good, it's time to try it. WOW ok I've been writing this review since I started using this thing and I think it's been a little over a month. Booted up on this monitor, DayZ standalone on Ps4 and PC (I wanted to see them both through the monitor) instantly had a HUGE difference in the quality of almost everything in the game, it was much smoother, sharper, HD, vivid. I could literally see the characters sitting in the bushes for miles! It's gotten a lot easier to notice people and things, I almost feel like it made me a better PVP player, but maybe it just gave me more confidence. I LOVE THIS MONITOR. I suggest picking one before they realize they need to appreciate these things! The only real downside is that the monitor adjusts its own brightness based on how light or dark what's on the screen is. It's barely noticeable unless you switch tabs.

Pros
  • Shadow Boost improves image detail in dark areas and brightens scenes without overexposing light areas.
