I bought these to quickly and securely attach my ladder and building materials to my truck's ladder post. I got tired of running the elastic cords under and around and over and over again to get the right tension and digging them into the back of the truck. I had to attach a special aluminum plate to mount the ratchet as the rack posts and cover itself didn't have enough room to mount. Now the straps are always right where I need them and can be quickly attached to the ladder using the attachment points I installed on the opposite side. They draw quickly and reliably, although each time I have to stop and figure out how to use them again. The operation takes a little getting used to. So far they've kept my ladder safe on bumpy roads for a month in a Michigan winter, and they're much faster than a bungee or regular ratchet strap.
