I originally bought this scooter for commuting to and from the train stations for work, approximately 10-12 miles a day. I'm a heavy guy (230lbs) and I wanted something that can handle my weight and still go somewhat fast from point A to point B. So here's the Pro's and Con's in my opinion.PROS:1) Reached 30mph with me on it.2) Battery life was sufficient for the 10-12 mile commute each day.3) Climbed small to medium hills/inclines well.4) Nice overall look and handles well.5) Brakes are strong.6) Light enough to carry onto the train.7) Folds small enough to fit in the trunk of an average size car or SUV.8) Did well off-road during a camping trip.9) Due to the single swing arm design, its quick and easy to change a tire or fix a flat, even on the side of the road.CONS:1) The 10-12 miles a day doing about 30mph would drain the whole battery, not leaving me enough to run errands or go play around after I got home from work if I wanted to.2) Tires/Inner tubes aren't very durable, I averaged a flat a week.3) Nuts/bolts come loose and/or strip out sometimes, had to run to the hardware store for replacements a couple times. I then blue thread locked everything which helped keep things snug.4) Out of the box, when Id hit a significant bump, Id loose power briefly and get a low battery code. I ended up finding a loose wire under the deck at the controller (Easy fix, just pushed the connecter back together and put a drop of glue on it to hold it better).5) The handlebar stem cracked at the base where the weld is, making the bars very wobbly and creaky (see attached pictures). Hiboy customer serviced offered to send me the replacement part for free.Unfortunately, I ended up declining Hiboys offer to replace the broken handlebar stem component and instead requested a refund for the whole scooter. The customer service was very good and fast, and they approved the return and full refund. As a daily commuter for someone my size and weight, riding 10+ miles a day, it just wasn't quite reliable enough and I feel like it would wear it out fairly quick. But for anyone that would use this scooter mainly for fun/recreation, and not a 10+ mile a day commute, I think its a great option for the price. Id highly recommend blue thread locking all the nuts/bolts/screws as soon as you get the scooter, put tire slime in the tires and carry some tools and a spare inner tube if going on a longer ride. The customer service alone is a huge plus for me, and I will continue to buy Hiboy products for recreational use. I also own a Hiboy S2 Pro that my wife and friends use around the neighborhood, on day trips, and camping. So far that scooter has had ZERO issues and is a great product for what it is and was well worth the cost. I will soon give that to my daughter and plan to buy the Hiboy e-bike for my wife. My overall experience with Hiboy so far has kept me a customer, and as soon as the add on seat and phone mount arrives for the S2 Pro, I will be leaving a detailed review on the Hiboy S2 Pro scooter and seat kit here on Revain.
