I used this sand in my hamster's sandbox. She uses it as a potty. It is easy to scoop and sift. And when it's wet it sticks together so it's easy to see where she's peeing and scoop it out. The color is really pretty, but it's cheaper to buy a $5 (£50) bag of baby play sand at my local hardware store. It takes a bit of work to bake this sand and sort out large rocks, but it's a much better option for me in the long run. But this reptile sand has a better consistency than super-grain play sand. So it depends on which hamster you have. Dwarf hamsters may want to wallow and bathe in their sand, so this sand is softer and better. My Syrian just wants to do a little digging before going potty so granular play sand is the best option.
