I had a bunch of very large gnarled pine roots growing under the driveway from a very large pine that had just been felled. The roots had to be removed to carry out additional work at the site. These were large roots, 6 to 8 inches in diameter. I tried a chainsaw and blunted the blade almost immediately due to the sandy bottom and small rocks. I've used these Diablo carbide blades and have had no problem cutting through the roots right into the ground. The carbide tips of the cutting blades stayed nice and sharp. The tree company offered me $400 to remove those roots. Thanks to Selena Thinking Out Loud on YouTube for the tip!
