Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 722-010 Rear Spring Bracket Kit - Enhances Leaf Spring Rearward Performance for Ford and Mazda Models by Travis Rogers

Good mounts, bad screws

This mount fitted my '91 Ranger when I installed Deaver F31 leaf springs. The bracket fits perfectly. If you're smart, you'll (probably) ditch the class 10 bolts/nuts that came with the bracket. I destroyed two sets of these and then gave up and bought real grade 10 screws from the local hardware store. The bolts/nuts supplied with the bracket cannot be Class 10, regardless of what is stamped on the bolt head. I think that's unsafe and Dorman should be ashamed of such poor gear. As reported in a previous review, the OEM brace is bolted to the frame. You need to grind the rivet heads on one side. The best access is from outside the frame. Remove the bed too and you have plenty of work space. You can try to drill out the rivets but you will be there for a long time. I also bought a set of Dorman staples. The screws that came with it worked perfectly.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Cleanliness
