Review on Frost King DE46BR Automatic Downspout by Emanuel Frison

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It worked, but didn't work

First, I should note that this downspout extender was installed in a home in Florida where it rains every day during the summer. high hopes for this 4" downspout extender. Although other reviewers have said so, I didn't think so. However, it does not allow enough water through the holes (see fig 1) and then retracts and becomes around the seams of the downspout gutter ejected (see fig 2). Also, leaves or debris in the gutter will get stuck in it. I found that the end piece is removable to make debris removal easier (the end has a black plastic piece that closes the edge of the extension and can be removed). It comes with a black piece of foam that adheres to the drain. Then you slip the extension over it and secure it with the zip tie provided. I'm not exactly sure what the function of the black piece of foam is, but I think it should create a tighter seal It's entirely possible that removing the tip (not just for cleaning, but there with more water coming out) improves performance, but I removed the foam and cut the zip tie so I can't test that. There aren't many clues in there to give any hints. While the perceived functionality of this drain extender is good, the way it works in real life isn't as good.

  • Easy installation with no tools required
Cons
