The ball ends naturally make contact with the inside of the hex socket in only a few places, but allow for up to 20 degrees of misalignment. A flathead screwdriver provides perfect surface-to-surface contact with a socket, but does not allow for displacement and is slightly slower to use. Buy flat hex wrenches with an angle or T-handle if you need to apply a lot of torque. Sometimes I have to get one of these drivers to "break" a locked screw, but they work in normal cases.
