Review on 🏠 Enhance Home Connectivity with Linksys WHW0102 Velop Mesh Router | 2-Pack/ White by Johnny Santana

Nice, easy to set up but I sent it back.

I was ready to order the first version of the Velop, but Revane said the new version would be out in a few weeks at a much lower price. The description did not indicate what changes, if any, would be made to the product. When I received the new version, it turned out to be a smaller and less powerful mesh system than the original. Attractive and easy to set up, I was disappointed when my Ring doorbell (about 25ft from the main hub) complained of poor signal strength. My signal level was significantly reduced compared to my previous off-grid system (Linksys WRT 1900 and Range Extender) throughout the house, and even at three knots the signal didn't reach our detached garage (which gets a good signal with the range). Renewal). ). We have about 2,700 square feet, which pretty much describes a new Velop (except for the garage, of course). One of the reasons I wanted to switch to a mesh system was because my husband complained about having to switch to the range extender's SSID while working in the garage. Another weird issue I had was that I could no longer use a Canon wireless printer from a wired Windows 10 computer on the same subnet. Both the computer and the Velop main node were connected to our AT&T gateway. However, I was able to connect to the printer if I turned off the ethernet connection and connected the computer to the network wirelessly. But who wants to do this every time you want to print? I had no trouble connecting to my Apple products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air) when I went to print. I sent Velop back. I can still order the stronger version (now $50 more than when I originally added it to my cart); I installed the old 2 node version for a friend and it works really well. I reinstalled my old system and we have a strong signal again and I can print over the ethernet. Don't buy an additional warranty as there is already a three-year warranty.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Useless features
