Don't expect accuracy

I've had this for about 20 months and use it regularly at home. Most often, a frying pan is used to reheat what is taken out of the freezer. I've always noticed that the temperature setting is far from accurate. Let's say I take one of Bertolli's frozen Italian dishes from the fridge and drop it into this appliance's frying pan. If I set it to 160, it heats without the ingredients boiling - increasing one setting to 170 - and liquids boiling. I recently tried getting the water up to 200 for coffee. Even at 160 it slowly continued to rise and eventually boiled over. So there doesn't seem to be any way to calibrate or tweak it, you just obsess over what it does. Still, this is a well-built device. Because I take care of things, mine looks the same as the day I opened the box. It heats up pretty quickly and does its job well. Just don't expect temperature accuracy. And since that seems to be the only reason to spend a lot more on this model compared to others, you really have to wonder if it lives up to its value proposition, to which I would have to answer no.
