Review on πŸ”Œ Sabrent USB 3.0 4-Port High Powered Hub: Enhanced Connectivity with 4A Power Adapter – Reverse Compatible to USB 2.0 by Talapon Blackburn

Works great when it works.

For months I have been tracking a very intermittent problem (described below) on my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7. The solution was to replace the two Sabrent hubs that were plugged into my computer , two of them from another manufacturer. My laptop only has one USB 3.0 port, so I daisy-chained two hubs** to allow six devices to be connected (2 scanners, a R/W DVD drive, all self-powered, and 3 hard drives, of which 2 self-sufficient *). I do quite a bit of photo work, which causes a lot of traffic between my computer and two self-powered hard drives. Three or more times a day, something is causing Windows to map devices on a USB 3.0 port to a USB 2.0 port that is not implemented in hardware. This usually happens when data is sent to one of the hard drives in bursts. This obviously kills any program that was using the disk and often results in a "Delay Write Failed" error message (I disabled lazy write to stop data loss). I have found that unplugging the hub from the computer port and plugging it back in restores normal operation for a different period of time. at one point with only 4 devices connected (tried both), I ended up swapping out both hubs. It's now been three weeks with no errors (and I can use delayed write again).* Some devices can be plugged into a USB 2.0 port, but both ports are positioned so that any USB cable plugged into the port allows the use of Mouse and pad blocked (poor design by Toshiba and lack of usability testing before product release). **These hubs were purchased in April 2015.
