I wanted to love this monitor, I really did. It was the solution to everything I needed for a productive workflow. It had a USB-C input that plugged into the 2 USB ports on the back of the monitor and an audio jack that I could connect to my desktop speakers. It seemed like the perfect solution to not only make my setup at home more user-friendly, but also to make my work in the classroom a lot easier since I'm a college computer science student. When I first got the monitor everything worked great. Once connected to my MacBook Pro, I was able to connect my monitor, speakers, webcam, and USB mic through a single connection. It was beautiful and that's how it stayed...... About 3 weeks to a morning. I sat down at my desk to start, but when I turned on my Mac and monitor, nothing came out of the monitor. No video, speaker sound, webcam input and microphone detection. I tried to fix the problem myself but after exhausting all my resources I decided to call LG support. This is the beginning of a long, frustrating process that has yet to be resolved. The monitor must be sent in for repair. OK I think. School hadn't started yet, so I figured I'd only be able to go without a monitor for a few weeks. Boy was I sure I was wrong. I shipped the monitor on August 24th and it was delivered to the workshop on September 2nd. 2 weeks ago and there were no updates. The tracker was still under repair and its specific repair is pending. It is still being considered to this day. So I call LG for an update on September 12th and am told the part was ordered on September 4th but never shipped. The very helpful agent tried to contact the parts department to get me an update but they were closed and recommended calling back on Monday for an update. Monday arrives and I call LG again to speak to the parts department. Unbeknownst to me, parts close at 5pm CT and I called at 5:30am after leaving classes for the day. That brings us to where we are today. I'm calling this morning for an update and the agent I spoke to sent a request to expedite the repair. About 10 minutes after I hung up, my term paper for my C++ class (the main reason I chose a large external display) posted our term paper, which would take a lot of work and is basically impossible to do with just my 15 "Macbook Pro. After that, I call to speak to the manager about further speeding up the process. When I spoke to the manager, I was told that there was nothing she could do as she would be asking the same department that one was outstanding request for expediting AND my broken monitor I was given a phone number to call the repairs department directly but luckily I was put on voicemail by an agent named Margaret who left me a message, my receipt number, a phone number and a summary of my current Situation got us to where we are now I've been without a monitor for 25 days now I have to completing a huge semester project for my computer science class, a small mac display that will make my project almost impossible to complete, and no definitive answer as to when my monitor will be returned to me and still no monitor. This monitor lasted 3 weeks and only 28 hours of use when I had to ship it, not what I expected from a $500 monitor from a reputable company. Overall, the experience of owning this monitor was nothing short of a headache, and the experience of dealing with an underperforming customer service team only added more confusion/stress to the situation. I will not recommend this monitor or LG products to anyone again. This is totally unacceptable for a company with a reputation like LG.TL;DR: my monitor broke after 3 weeks, it works at LG for almost a month, it even takes a long time to ship parts and customer service can't help but find him customers. problems fixed. There are better options on the market that can do the same thing as this monitor.
