I bought this as a replacement for my 27" Samsung UH750 4k monitor for one main reason: to be able to connect USB-C to my Macbook Pro. I only have two USB-C ports on my Macbook, so using both with my Samsung to use the monitor and charge it at the same time was a major hassle. This left me with a USB connection for other things like external storage. USB-C monitors are still a new technology and probably won't be as good in a year or two as they were in a week of use, I haven't had a single issue yet. " MBP is great - I haven't experienced any performance loss during more intensive activities like encoding large video files. Not a single flicker or frame drop so far. To date there is only one HUGE (at least for me) downside I've found in this monitor. When connected to any device via USB-C it limits the speed of the two USB-A ports on the back of the monitor to 2.0 I was planning to use Windows To Go in this setup by installing an SSD on the back of the monitor, which is running Windows. I definitely can't boot Windows 10 stably with this setup. I could use a USB-C to DP or HDMI cable for my MBP and then the USB-A ports would go back to 3.0 speeds but in this case I might as well buy the UD88 model and save about a hundred bucks I really don't understand how this monitor can't output USB 3.0 speeds while e r maintains a USB-C connection, considering it still uses an external power adapter. I think a huge power supply will allow to provide the necessary energy for it. That annoyed me, but I didn't find anything critical about it. Backlighting was minimal and picture quality was excellent. I'm using it with my Xbox One X and can make sure you see all the green ticks on the 4K detail screen. I had no trouble setting up my console with this monitor, even with FreeSync and HDR 10. Pros: Works great with Xbox One X and Macbook Pro. Outstanding picture quality. Adaptive OSD. Many ports. Cons: External power supply. Computer via USB-CC cannot adjust volume using keyboard keys unless connected to a Bluetooth speaker for audio (although I don't think many monitors can do that). Edit: 2 year old update (2/1/2021) I'm still using this Daily Monitor now that I'm working from home and haven't had a single problem yet. I've since added a Caldigit Thunderbolt Dock to my setup, so the USB limitation mentioned in the review isn't a problem for me now. I currently connect my webcam to one of the USB ports on the back and it works great! There are definitely a lot more Thunderbolt monitors out there now since I first bought this monitor, but I've found almost all of them to be significantly more expensive than this one. does. I'm currently debating whether to upgrade to the LG ultra wide monitor as my primary monitor or add a second UK850 for a lower price. I still recommend this monitor to all my friends who ask for it.
