The Dee Zee Heavy Duty Cargo Mat is made from a different material than the Bed Mat. The tailgate is a much more durable material. It's a different color and texture. Like others, I didn't want to screw a 2016 F150 into my trunk. I used 3M Heavy Duty Velcro. I must have an installation video as I couldn't find one showing how to install using this method. I attached a hook of tape across the width of the tailgate just below the plastic cover to the paint. I washed the paint off with alcohol first. I then trimmed any areas that needed trimming with scissors and determined which end would go on top. Clean it with alcohol and put the velcro on the mat. I didn't have to cut the carpet, just some areas that were rough. After the top of the mat was secured to the tailgate, I rolled up the mat, cleaned the paint, and added Velcro strips to the tailgate. Horizontal in the middle and bottom and two real stripes on the sides. I did it in several steps: 1. attached the rest of the velcro together. 2. Cut the strips to the length I need, adjust each side and clean the area with alcohol. 3. I attached the hook to the tailgate. All this time the mat is folded in half and held in place. I rubbed the mat with rubbing alcohol where the tape would meet. Once dry, I removed the backing from the loop side of the tape and slowly rolled the mat down. As long as the band holds.
