Review on 🚛 Monroe 911149 Reflex Truck Shock Absorber: Unparalleled Performance for Trucks by David Flores

Seems to have done pretty well so far in the limited rides I've done. It might be something I can upgrade later as I earn more miles. The only thing I didn't like was the complexity of the installation. It wasn't really hard, but it was harder than it needed to be. The reason for this is that if you fit a stock shock and they are side by side you will see that the Monroe appears to be about 1 to 1.5 inches shorter than the stock shock. This becomes a problem when installing the shock through the coil spring and trying to install the top stop sleeve, washer and nut. I had to put the wheels back on the truck and lower it to the ground to get the suspension to compress enough will take me to attach the top fasteners. Then when I jacked up the car I saw that the included fasteners were sorely missing, with the force of the uncompressed suspension the rubber support sleeve was pulled into the hole where the shock absorber rod goes through, I had to disassemble and reinstall it using factory assembly equipment which is much larger and much more reliable than Monroe's. I actually called Monroe to inquire about this and was told that this is perfectly normal due to the additional 'shock absorber' fitted as Monroe shock absorbers relieve pressure when fully extended. Even before I told him what I did he mentioned that sometimes they need to be installed when the truck is on the ground. He also assured me that once installed they would work with full and normal range of motion. My biggest gripe is that Monroe could have included some instructions, or at least an explanation about it, in the box. Of course, that would save me time, headaches, and curses.
