It's easier to replace everything with this kit. but make sure the clamps are not loose

We bought a Samsung front loading dryer in 2010 and it didn't get hot in 2015. I bought a heater, watched step-by-step repair videos, and replaced the heater (the old one had a broken coil) - easy! When it stopped heating again in September 2016, I was overconfident and simply installed a new heating element. The dryer still wouldn't heat and I couldn't see where the old one had a fault. So I took out a voltmeter and tried to figure out if the thermistor or thermostat connected to the heating element was bad (at the time I didn't know there were 2 of each). Go back to the store to buy a part that I thought was bad - I installed it and it worked! In July 2019 the dryer stopped heating again! This time I wanted to see what was going on before proceeding with replacing the parts, so I took the dryer apart and saw that one of the wires connected to the heating element had burned out and had come loose from the terminal (see the red wire in the 1st photo). I looked online for replacement parts and found that all the wires are in the same harness throughout the dryer, which was expensive. I didn't want to attempt this repair either so I went back to the parts store where I showed them the terminal and cable to see if they had something I could hook up. They did! It was part of a different brand dryer and had copper wire, so I had to buy a special connector to connect the copper and aluminum wires (see the purple box in the 2nd picture). It is now January 2020 and the dryer has failed to heat AGAIN. ! When I reopened the dryer I saw that the other wire connected to the heating element had burned out (compare the blue wire in each picture). When I researched the issue online, I realized that I was the root cause of the problem - if you don't ensure the connections are tight on the heating element, the excess heat can overload the wires and catch fire. I searched Amazon and found the same cable repair kit, but this one had aluminum wire so I could use a regular rotary connector. The item is designed for the hot tub and is called Dryer Heater Wire Adapter Connection Kit 279457. But I'm writing about this so you don't have to buy it. If your Samsung dryer isn't getting hot (and your wires aren't blown) simply buy this kit and replace everything (heating element and all 4 thermistors/thermostats) so you don't have to guess which part is defective and replace them successively. When I replaced the second burned wire, the dryer still wouldn't heat up. I've seen this kit and for the price it's easier to swap out all the parts at once so as not to waste time. The burnt wire probably caused another part to fail, but didn't need to determine exactly what happened as I replaced all the parts and now the dryer is working again. And make sure you use pliers to pinch the wire connectors connected to the heater coils just enough so they don't come loose.

Cons
  • Not bad
