Although they are fairly easy to replace, this is the third time I have replaced a heating element. Although, of course, cheaper than buying a new dryer.

This product works exactly as described. I found an installation video and once the dryer was disassembled it didn't take long to put everything back together. Having absolutely no experience and being extremely careful, it took me less than two hours from start to finish. If you are aware of this, it will probably take you 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish.

I'm glad I went down this route. The heater rebuilt with these parts and we are like new. The whole job, including cleaning the inside of the dryer, took about 2 hours. The item appears to be qualitatively identical to the original. Wire gauge and resistance measurements (10 ohms) are the same as the original. There are no instructions but there are many videos online and it's not that difficult to do. Be careful not to short circuit the element when installing, probably the best advice.

I was really bothered by the price but thought it was less than half what the local hardware store around the corner was asking for just the item so I had didn't feel like i was too much to lose. I replaced everything just because disassembling my Maytag/Neptun MDE9700AYW is so painful that I could just do it right now. Replaced pulleys and belts. Our 7 year old Samsung dv5451aew front loading dryer still worked but no longer dried/heated. This is a heating coil that current flows through to generate heat. Many reviews say it burns out and roasts instantly. This happens when you let the metal coil touch either the circuit board or another part of it (the connecting wires going to the connector). Imagine that the two ends of the dough are connected by a wire. Do not do that. As long as you make sure none of them are touching the core or any other part of the loop, fold it back so none of them are touching, this product is perfect.
