I bought these to replace a worn mount I had for many years. This device had a metal plate on one side and some sort of rubber or plastic was sandwiched between the metal and the hook/loop. All of these devices are made of plastic/rubber and it appears that the hook/loop can be molded together with the body. Anyway, it took about 5 minutes for the hook/loop to melt on one corner. When this happened, I sanded the cherry without much pressure using about 100 grit. I may have kept the grinder in one place for too long, but its durability is far less than my original fine attachment, which lasted for years.
